In the 9th minute of the game, Dortmund almost took the lead. When Julian Rierson crossed the ball to Serge Guirassi, who headed it in the penalty area. Kevin Trapp was unable to save it in time. But unfortunately the ball hit the post.  

However, it was Frankfurt who took the lead 1-0 in the 18th minute. When Rasmus Christensen broke free on the right before crossing to Hugo Ekitike. Who ran in and swung a right-footed shot into the net.

The home side almost got their second three minutes later. When Mario Gotze fed Ansgar Knauf with a right-footed shot from the edge of the area but it went wide of the post. 

In the 29th minute, the home team had another chance. Ellyes Chakri passed the ball to Hugo Ekitike. Who shot with his left foot in the penalty area. The ball went into the frame but was saved by Gregor Kobel. The first half ended with Frankfurt leading 1-0.

Dortmund almost equalized. When substitute Jan Couto received the ball from Julian Brandt and shot with his right foot, but Kevin Trapp saved it. 

In the final minute, Dortmund had another chance. Karim Adeyemi got the ball before swinging and curling it with his left foot. But the ball curved into the arms of Kevin Trapp who made no mistake.

In stoppage time, Frankfurt scored to make it 2-0. Dortmund lost the ball in the middle of the field and were immediately attacked. Oscar Hojlund broke away before dragging into the penalty area and shooting past Gregor Kobel. 

The game ended with Frankfurt winning 2-0. Increasing their points tally to 36 and remaining in 3rd place. But closing in on the leader, Bayern Munich, by 6 points. While Dortmund continued to be in poor form and remained in 10th place on the table.
